Mara Jacobson

I am a Junior Law and Society major and History minor at UCSB.  I began learning about the holocaust from a very early age, as a result of growing up in a Jewish household.  I first read Anne Frank's diary in the 5th grade and have been fascinated by it ever since.  Each time I read it, I feel I gain a greater understanding of the holocaust and what it was really like to experience the horrors that were endured.  I chose this topic because I had not read the book in a couple of years and I felt that I would learn even more now because I have matured a lot since the last time I read it.

I am a Communication major and a History minor at UCSB.  Even as a child, I was interested in history and the Holocaust.  I remember reading "Number the Stars" at a very young age, and reading Anne Frank's diary when I was in middle school.  I became very interested in her story because I felt I could relate to her and her feelings.  I have always wanted to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, but haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.  I wanted to study this topic because I wanted to learn more about Anne now that I know more details of the Holocaust.
