Example of an ID exam term

This is an example of something you might include on the midterm fact sheet.

Pan-Slavism [p. 883]: 19th c. nationalist movement stressed ethnic and cultural kinship of various Slavic peoples of eastern and e.-central Europe. Supported by Russia among peoples in the Austro-Hungarian empire.

This definition from the textbook would be graded a "C" (7.5).
To bring it up to a "B" or "A-" (8 or 9 pts.) you must include something about its significance, for example:

Important because Serbian nationalist [_______] assassination of A-H heir apparent [________] triggered World War I.

The terms in [brackets] would be "Black Hand" and "Archduke Franz Ferdinand", but they are not necessary for a good answer.
For a full 10 point score, you would have to go beyond this limited significance and mention something longer term. Some statement of the following (even without the details) would qualify for this.

The creation of a pan-slavic state Yugoslavia (also known as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes) by Versailles Treaties in 1918 left ethnic tensions between various Slavic peoples unresolved. Gave rise to many bloody conflicts from the 1940s to the 1990s. This was an example of how the principle of national self-determination was only incompletely applied at Versailles.

Corfu Declaration (July 1917): called for creation of a tripartite Yugoslav nation as "a worthy member of the new community of nations."
